Blogsam and Jetsam

Flotsam is the part of the wreckage of a ship or its cargo found floating on the water. Jetsam is cargo or parts of a ship that are deliberately thrown overboard, as to lighten the ship in an emergency, and that subsequently either sinks or is washed ashore. This is my personal blog version of the above. Loot freely.

I'm annoyed that the world is going crazier faster than it used to be. But it's interesting to watch.

Happy Surprise

On my walk to the bank this morning I discovered that Augusten Burroughs had a new book out!

I just adore Augusten Burroughs; he's the only writer I've read who had a childhood even more fucked up than mine which also didn't involve serious physical abuse. I now own the only copy our local bookseller had (and have already read the first essay.)

As a bonus I got Ron White's book about which I also had no clue:

When I got back to the office I had fresh email from my mother. Such is the way of the world.

I think Annette Bening will be a hoot as his mother when the movie comes out.

Augusten's books rock. I loved Magical Thinking...the North American Opossum story made me wet myself.
